About Fertility Testing for Men
We offer fertility testing for men using the most advanced, state-of-the-art technology available, providing an accurate diagnosis for treatment of male reproductive disorders.
A certified High Complexity Laboratory director leads the andrology team, and a licensed medical technologist performs all testing and procedures. The Andrology Laboratory is licensed as a clinical laboratory facility by the state of Florida.
For our patient’s comfort, a private specimen collection area is available at The IVF CenterSM.

The semen analysis is performed in the doctor’s office. You must refrain from ejaculation for 48-96 hours prior to giving a specimen for evaluation. Your sample is usually collected by masturbating and ejaculating into a sterile specimen cup. The container is provided at the time the appointment is made. Your specimen may also be collected at home and brought to the office within one hour of collection.
Analysis of your sperm includes the following:
- Volume (amount of semen)
- pH
- Sperm Count and Motility (speed)
- Strict Kruger Morphology (shape)
- Viability Staining*
- Antibody testing*

- What causes infertility in men?
A wide number of factors could be involved in male infertility such as hormone disorders, injury to the reproductive anatomy, obstruction, illness or male sexual dysfunction. Depending on the factors involved, sperm can be permanently or temporarily impacted and prevent conception.
- What is erectile dysfunction / impotence?
Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is an inability to achieve intercourse resulting from erection issues. Erectile dysfunction has different levels of severity that can vary from complete lack of erection, to a partial erection that is not enough to penetrate your partner or is lost soon after you penetrate. Erectile dysfunction is typically more common among olr men, but it can occur at any age.
- What is premature ejaculation?
Premature ejaculation occurs when a man has an orgasm too soon during intercourse to satisfy his partner. Premature ejaculation is more common during the beginning of a relationship but can be caused by anxiety or overstimulation.
- Is erectile dysfunction / impotence a cause or symptom of male infertility?
Erectile dysfunction can cause male infertility because it interrupts or prevents intercourse. Sperm must be delivered to your partner’s egg during intercourse in order for a child to be conceived. However, erectile dysfunction does not mean you are infertile.
- Can I experience male factor infertility even if my sperm count is healthy?
Yes, even if you have a normal sperm count, you can experience infertility. Infertility factors in Males can be caused by low sperm mobility, malformed sperm, as well as blockages in the sperm ducts that prevent the sperm from entering the semen. All of these other factors can cause infertility, even if your sperm count is healthy.
