“Many pregnant women worry about the risk of birth defects, but this risk can be significantly reduced through supplementing with folic acid.
Pregnant women should aim for a folic acid intake of 600 mcg daily. Folic acid supplementation can start before pregnancy, as it may improve fertility rate, and continue throughout pregnancy,” says Dr. Trolice.
