Dear Patients:
By now, you all may be aware that on March 17, 2020, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) provided guidance regarding the coronavirus pandemic. The key point is the recommendation for fertility clinics to discontinue infertility treatment procedures for patients in pursuit of pregnancy. Unequivocally, this is a most challenging time for all of us. Most importantly, your stress from infertility is now compounded by the coronavirus. This is clearly not fair to you all.
We realize you all have all typically endured years of infertility before embarking on fertility treatment. Then, you all honored us with your trust. While our recent decision to comply with the ASRM guidance is surely a disappointment to many of you, we arrived at our position with a heavy heart – torn between potentially reducing the burden of the virus on society and a pregnancy vs. disappointing our patients during their struggle with building a family.
We have been assured the next guidance from ASRM will be March 30, 2020. I can provide you with near certainty that unless a catastrophic event occurs before then, God forbid, we will exert all efforts to resume treatment cycles toward accommodating your goal. We are privileged to be involved in your care and I will always be your advocate.
Our prayers to you all,
Mark P. Trolice, M.D.
